TRANSPORTATION
There are two stages of transportation of PDS commodities
for reaching the stocks upto the door steps of the FP Shop
Dealers.Transportation from FCI godowns and Sugar Factories to MLS Points is
known as stage-I Transportation and transportation from MLS Points to
F.P.Shops is known as Stage-II Transportation.
STAGE-I TRANSPORTATION The transportation from FCI
godowns in respect of rice and wheat and sugar from Sugar factories to MLS
Points is known as Stage-I transportation. For this purpose, Corporation is
appointing district-wise transport contractors separately for food grains
and Zone wise w.e.f 2004-05 for sugar by calling for tenders every year.
Wherever FCI agreed to deliver the stocks directly under
Stage-II, direct transportation from FCI godwns to FP Shop is also being
undertaken by avoiding Stage-I transportation.
STAGE-II TRANSPORTATION
Transportation from MLS Points to FP Shops is being done in the following ways:
- Through the transport contractors appointed by the District Tender
Committee consisting of Joint Collector, DSO and District Manager by
floating tenders.
- Through beneficiary vehicles under own your vehicle scheme sponsored
by State Agencies like APSFC, APSCFC, APMC or any nationalised banks.
- Wherever Girijan Cooperative Corporation is handling stocks at MLS
Points GCC is undertaking Stage-II Transportation.
In regard to appointment of Stage-II Contractors, the Joint
Collectors are caliing tenders locally in the districts and send proposals
to Head Office after negotiations with the tenderers and appointment will be
made after approval of Head Office. |
